Hello! Welcome here for my car report again. Today, i would like to share to my readers on the new Toyota Corolla Altis which just launched by UMW Toyota on 13th March.










This fully imported car is introduced by UMW Toyota will be replacing the 7 years old Corolla Altis model. It is the 10th generation of Corolla and it deemed to be sleeker as the height has reduced and also bigger in size.

If you compare the new Corolla Altis with the Camry and Vios, you can notice alot of similiarity between this 3 car or in another words, they have the same DNA. We can expect this design as a trend in Toyota sedan.






Compare with the old genaration Corolla, the new generation had gain 10mm in lengh and 55mm in width! The height had reduced by 15mm.

The aerodynamic of new Corolla also had been improved as Toyota intends to make the new generation Corolla to become more fuel saving, improved high speed stability and also reduced wind noise. Toyota did this by designing the A-pillars shape, windshield wipers, flush mounted windscreen glass to achieve better aerodynamics.



Toyota had developed new dual VVT-i engine. However, this new Corolla Altis are using the same engine as its older generation. The 1.8L version are powered by 1ZZ-FE engine which produce 132ps of power at 6,000rpm with maximum torque of 170Nm at 4,200rpo. While the 1.6L version is powered by 3ZZ-FE engine which produce 109ps at 6,000rpm and having its peak torque of 145Nm at 4,400rpm. Both engine variance are mated with 4 speed auto gearbox with gate shifter lever. However, the 1.8G version will get the sequential gear which you can perform manual shifting.






The suspension also did remains the same with the old generation Corolla Altis with a MacPherson strut setup at the front and a torsion beam at the rear. Brakes are ventilated discs at the front and solid discs at the rear.



Interior wise, the dashboard of the Corolla is updated with some clever ideas. Such as a second storage compartment on the position of passenger's airbag. Besides that, all version of new corolla will also get a multi-info display which can display the current fuel consumption, average fuel consumption, range of KM left before empty, average KM/H, elapsed time and also outside temperature. All 1.8 version also comes with foldable rear seat!










The 1.6E, 1.8E and 1.8E sporty get a normal meter panel while the 1.8G and 1.8G sporty will get optitron meter! The 1.8L models will get automatic climate control while the 1.6E will only get manual air conditioning. The 1.8G and 1.8G Sporty also featuring electronic 8 way adjustable seat. The rear seat centre hump also had been flatten which will provides more space for the passenger to move their leg.












There is 5 variant to choose from with 2 engine option. The 1.6E, 1.8E, 1.8G, 1.8E Sporty, 1.8G Sporty. The car are available in 5 colours which is Silver Metallic, Medium Silver Metallic, Black Mica, Beige Metallic and Greyish Blue Metallic.

The Toyota Corolla Altis 1.8E adds:

• 1.8 liter 132 PS engine

• Sequential manual shift
• 4-spoke leather wrapped steering wheel
• Steering wheel-mounted audio controls
• Automatic climate control air conditioning
• 60:40 split foldable rear seats

The Toyota Corolla Altis 1.8G adds:

• Chrome side protection mould and door handles
• 6-disc in-dash CD changer with MP3 and WMA support
• 6 speakers
• 4-spoke leather wrapped steering wheel with wood trim
• 8-way electrically adjustable power driver’s seat
• Wood grain finishing on centre console, dash and door panels
• Vehicle Stability Control (VSC)
  

The 1.8E Sporty and 1.8G Sporty versions adds a bodykit which includes front and rear lips and side skirts.

Have you all ever heard about Jogoya Restaurant located in Starhill Gallery which is in centre on Bukit Bintang? If you never heard of it before, let me give some brief describe of the restaurant.

Today, me and my dearest went to Jogoya Restaurant located in Starhill Gallery, Bukit Bintang. How to go there? Starhill Gallery is located along Jalan Bukit Bintang which its opposite neighbour is the newly opened Pavilion KL. Infront Starhill Gallery, it is the famouse Bintang Walk which is a street full of cafe and restaurant. After you go in, look for Relish floor. Oh ya, i forgot to tell you what is Relish floor. Actually the floor in Starhill Gallery do not have floor number like usual complex, instead they use the name to represent each floor. So the Jogoya Restaurant is located at Relish floor or third floor.




Jogoya restaurant is a Taiwan based japanese cuisine restaurant. If you love Japanese food especially fresh seafood, go to JOGOYA! However, in Malaysia, we have served with satay and other local cuisine too! Wow!


What Jogoya mean?

Jo- Supreme place

Go- the palace lived by king

Ya- a shop

JOGOYA means a shop which full of culture should be visited by high class people.



Wow! today me and my dearest had suddenly became high class people! phew! So if you want to experienced the day of being rich and enjoying vanity life, go JOGOYA!






There is few package available in the restaurant:

Lunch buffet - RM78 (Weekday is 11.30 am to 1.40pm, Weekend is 11.00 am to 2.00pm)

Late lunch buffet - RM68 (Weekday is 1.40 pm to 4.20pm, weekend is 2 pm to 4.20pm)

Dinner buffet - RM88 (Weedday and Weekend is 5 pm to 9.30pm)

Supper buffet - RM78 (Weekday and Weekend is 9.30pm to 1am)

Kids are charged RM10++ or more depending on their height.


In my opinion, to get your money worth, you should eat 2 or 3 hours there. There are lots of food to be tried out. Its imposible for you to try out all their food.


JOGOYA even having a vip membership program. You will able to enjoy some food which can only enjoy by exclusive vip member with the same price you pay for the buffet! To applicable for the VIP member, you need to have spending of RM1200 in the restaurant.


Before you check in to enjoy your buffet, you have to que at the cashier at the entrance in advance. During weekend and holiday, its advisable that you make reservetion in advance.


After payment made, you will lead by a waiter to your table. Every table is equipted with portable burner so that you can keep your food warm. Some metal clips will also given to you. Some counter which serving cooked meal will have a basket. If you want that meal, just drop your clip in that basket and the food will be served to your table after a moment.




This restaurant is really a huge restaurant! The food counters are spread out through out the restaurant. I suggest that the restaurant add a menu at everytable to guide the guess on what food they provided on each counter.















There is beverage and dessert counter which is some distance away from restaurant entrances. There are alot type of drinks and desert served there! Ranging from tea, coffee, juice, fruits and not to be forgotten, the ice cream! The ice cream here are really delicious as it is haagen daaz, baskin robbin and also some other brand which i don't know where it come from but they all are delicious! I love the sweet coconut water i can enjoy from a tiny coconut supplied in that counter. On the day i went, i even need to wait for 30minutes for the coconut as it is out of stock due to customer high demand! There is also a row of glass counter supplying selection of desserts such as tiramisu, mousse, cheesecake, fruit tarts, cookies, and also pudding.








































Now, i would like to let you guess what is this:





















Answer: It is herbal jelly or known as "Gui Lian Gao"! I sweared that it is the best looking herbal jelly i had ever saw! It has the shape of pearl, wow!

Besides, there is also a counter serving sashimi and sushi. At sashimi counter, you will found a lot of fresh seafood such as oysters, prawns, crabs, scallops and etc.The sushi here are really nice although the choice is abit limited to less than 50 types. Besides the sushi section there is a counter serve cold apetizer such as cold cha soba noodles.

































There is also a counter serving dimsum and also soup. What unique about soup here is the paper pot they use. I wonder how they make the paper pot to fill soup inside. For the soup, you can choose some package they suggest or make you own mix and match to choose from selection of crabs, prawns, scallops, fish cake and vegetable. There is also soup selection of miso soup, chicken soup, tomyam soup and also curry soup. To keep the paper pot soup warm, you can use the portable burner at your table to heat the pot.


























There is also a counter serving western food such as steak and soup. I suggest you should try out the snail dished. Besides, there is also lobster pizza, seafood soup served with puff and waffle.


























































There is also a counter serving skewer such as unagi, chicken wings, fried dory fillet and etc. Besides that, chinese cuisine also served there. You can find dishes such as Singapore spicy crab, abalone fatt choy and etc. There is also an indian food corner for those who prefer spicy food.
















As a conclusion, if you able to pay for the price to dine in Jogoya. Go for it! Its really a great restaurant i can say. One thing i dislike is the staff there are mostly poor in english, so its really hard for you to communicate with them sometimes. Besides, the layout of the restaurant is also confusing. For first timer guess, its hard for them to locate the food counters location. Apart from that, i do not have other comment.

Hi! During the new Proton Saga launch, the Proton CEO tell us that a mpv model will be released next year. It is a mid size 7 seater mpv comparable to Toyota Wish.

Good news for Malaysia automobile lover. After Proton launch it's new Proton Saga, now we will see the begin of new kembara by Perodua. The new Perodua Kembara is expected to be launched on middle of 2008.

*Update on 24 April, The name of the kembara replacement model is now named PERODUA NAUTICA

Recently, I believe you all had saw Toyota come out with a new suv called Toyota Rush which is 7 seater. One of the good news is, the new Perodua Kembara will based on Daihatsu Be-Go or known as Toyota Rush in our country.






However, the Perodua Kembara will be short wheel based version of Daihatsu Be-Go/ Toyota Rush. Basically, the Perodua Kembara have some shadow of second generation Toyota RAV4. So we could expect that this new Kembara will get good response as it is very good looking car.














Perodua Kembara will be a 5 seater 4WD SUV which is different than the long wheel based Toyota Rush which is 7 seater 2WD SUV.

It is powered by a newly developed engine called “TOPAZ” engine which is a 1.5 DOHC 16V DVVT engine and it comes with full time 4WD with a center differential lock. This engine will able to produces 105hp at 6000rpm and 140Nm of torgue at 4400rpm. The compact SUV has a kerb weight of 1190kg. The fuel consumption of this new engine is considered reasonable with 16 cent per km.

Another version's interior but i think this version will not available as standard.

The Perodua Kembara will be CBU model which is imported from Indonesia plant. The price are still yet to be confirmed but we can expect it will be around 60k or 70k. So it is still consider a very affordable SUV in the market.

*Little update on 29 March 2008: The new Kembara will be CBU ( Completely built up) model imported from JAPAN (Not Indonesia). The price tag is expected to be higher than Toyota Rush due to Higher spec and 4WD drive train and Japan sourcing. Means we will get a better equipted Kembara compare with Rush with price tag above 85K. WOW! KEMBARA at 85K! Lol.
