PERODUA MPV 2009's insider info. (Not sure whether it's true.)
Recently, a friend of mine that attend a market survey held by Perodua. He say that the new MPV develop by Perodua will be a completely new version identical to MYVI but the size had been extended to mpv size which sits 7.
PERODUA MPV 2009: MYVI EXTENSION? AVANZA LOOK? AVANZA REPLACEMENT MODEL?
The market surveyor told us that the front of the MPV will have the similiarity with MYVI which the back resembles the AVANZA design.
The engine capacity of this new mpv will be 1.3 and 1.5 same with the avanza range available in market now.
So since the new Perodua MPV will fall in same market with the TOYOTA AVANZA that also produced by Pedodua which had been in market for 5 years by the year of 2009, the new MPV might be replacement for Toyota Avanza
What's the new MPV features?
Gearbox
The most unique feature that we rarely see on other car is the gear shifter position. The gear shifter in the new MPV will be placed beside the steering. Which means we can have more space in front seat perhaps even sit 3 people. Sound's great to me.
Besides that, the gearbox for new MPV will be CVT transmission. It is a type of semi auto gearbox which can be function as both manual and auto. So it will have the benefit of auto convenience and manual's fuel saving ability.

Automated rain wiper
This is another unique feature provided in the new MPV that we cannot found on its same class. This feature operates by adding a sensor element so that the rain wiper can be adjusted to appropriate wiping speed according to the raining condition. It even can be switched on automatically when there is a rain. Smart feature that eliminate the need for us to control the wiper when rain provide us with more focus on the road.
Automated 2nd row and 3rd row seat folding.
Another smart feature that makes the MPV be the first of its class. This functions operate with a electric motor to fold the seat automatically with the touch of a button. This feature normally only can be seen in luxury mpv.
PERODUA MPV based on TOYOTA SIENTA?
After knowing all this feature which will be in the new Perodua MPV, i found a similiar model of TOYOTA which also having all this feature which is the TOYOTA SIENTA. For your information, SIENTA is based on YARIS, VITZ, ECHO platform and it is 7 seater and powered by 1.5 little engine with CVT transmission.
Since there is so many similiarity between the TOYOTA SIENTA and the PERODUA MPV as according to insider info, i would say that may be the PERODUA MPV will be based on TOYOTA SIENTA.

PERODUA MPV: LUXURY MPV?
I believe the PERODUA intends to be a premium car maker and to built a luxury MPV as there are alot luxury features added in.
The PERODUA MPV also comes with good rating in GOA crash test and equipted with 5 airbag and electronic driving system.
PERODUA MPV: PRICING? 60K?
In the survey, the organizer asked the participant that would they buy if the MPV pricing is start from RM60,000. Therefore we can guess that the Perodua intends to set the MPV price at 60K.
This might give a fight to the PROTON MPV which will launch on March 2009 which the PERODUA MPV will be launched on SEPTEMBER 2009. The Proton MPV are expected to be launched and sell at RM60,000 range and it is powered by 1.6 little campro engine and can seat 7.
CONCLUSION
However, all these just a rumours that yet to be comfirm. If the PERODUA price the MPV at RM60,000 with all these features mentioned above in, i believe it can be a good choice of buy.
