Honda Accord 2008 to be launched in April 2008!
Recently, the Honda had announced that the new 8th generation of Honda Accord is going to released soon at april 2008. The press media also been invited to Japan for the test drive. Here, i would like to share with you all about the picture i have.
The Honda Accord is grown in size and improve its aerodynamics with this generation. Compare to the previous generation, the new Accord is 76mm longer than the previous model, 28mm wider and 22mm taller. This means that the passenger comfort has improved! The luggage space size had also been increased! In US, the Accord had been categorized as large sedan.
For your information, Honda Accord comes with 3 engine variant, the 2.0L, 2.4L, and 3.5L V6. The 2.4L engine produce 177 horsepower at 6,500rpm and 218Nm of torque at 4,300rpm. This is claimed to be the highest engine output of its class as the new engine is improve 7hp from its older generation accord. The more powerful engine option will be the 3.5L V6 engine! It can produce 268 horsepower at 6,200rpm and 336Nm of torque at 5,000rpm!
The 3.6L V6 engine also equipted with Honda developed Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) technology that will able to achieve both fuel efficiency and performance. It does so by running all 6 cylinders when maximum power is needed, and reducing to 4 or even 3-cylinder modes for fuel efficiency.
The suspension system for the new Accord is still the same with its successor, it remain using double wishbone front suspension at the front that will give a great driving experience. Another point of the new Accord is the variable gear ratio steering which it will give great stability in high speed and better response in low speed. The new Accord also have smaller turning radius than its older generation, make it easier for driver when park their car. Besides that, the Honda Accord will be also equipted with vehicle stability assistance for the 2.4L and 3.5L V6 model.
Interior wise, the new Honda Accord will featuring auto-dimming inside mirror, compass, multi-line display CD/MP3 player, auxiliary-input jack and subwoofer. However as usual, we might not see all these when it is launched in Malaysia.
On the safety feature, the Accord is equipted with 6 air bag which is two side curtain airbags, two sets of front dual stage airbags and two side airbags.
This month, the new Accord had been spotted on road test in Malaysia and a blogger named Tony Yew had snapped some picture of the new Accord while he is driving along North South Expressway. There are 3 unit on the road that time and we believe that the 3 car is the 2L, 2.4L, and 3.5L V6 version.
As conclusion, this new Accord will be launched somewhere in April and mostly we will get 3 engine variance. In my opinion, i do really hope the Honda tagged the price at RM130,000 for the 2.0L version so that more people could afford it and it might be threat to the Camry.
