New Perodua MPV? Daihatsu will launch new MPV model in 1st quarter 2009!

Yeah! After Daihatsu and Toyota revealed a new 7 seater MPV model in Japan named Toyota Passo Sette.

Daihatsu also announced that they had shortlist two agencies to put their new MPV model on sales on first quarter next year! The name for Daihatsu version of Toyota Passo Sette are not yet reveal. So lets wait what name the Daihatsu want to call the new MPV, perhaps Daihatsu Sirion Sette? =P
With this news also means the MPV i mentioned in the previos post are likely to make way in to INDONESIA! In another words, that also mean that Perodua MPV most probally will based on that model too!

Below are the photo of Toyota Passo Sette (Daihatsu version name uncomfirmed.):

For your information, this new MPV model are based on our Perodua Myvi / Daihatsu Boon (sirion) / Toyota Passo platform. I think everyone should know that actually this 3 model is the same car. Now, the Daihatsu and Toyota had built another MPV version from that sub-compact hatchback. It really look promising.

Power by 1.5 litter which produce 109ps, it will be just fine to move 7 people. A little bit of underpower will be still expected i believe. This MPV lengh is between 4180 - 4190mm and the height is 1620mm.

Daihatsu shortlists two agencies

by Asiya Bakht 9-Oct-08, 12:56

JAKARTA - Japanese carmaker Daihatsu Motor has short listed two agencies, Oze and Grey Advertising, after calling five agencies to pitch for a car launch brief.

The automobile company is looking for an agency to promote a new MPV car model in Indonesia.
The company’s existing four roster agencies include Dwi Sapta, BN Pratama, Macs 909 and Oze. Daihatsu, which considers Suzuki as its biggest competitor in the Indonesian market, will launch the unnamed brand in the first quarter of next year. The carmaker’s most popular brand in Indonesia is Gran Max, while the country’s largest selling car is Toyota Avanza.

Astra Daihatsu Motor, the Indonesian distributor of Daihatsu Motor, recently announced plans to lift domestic sales by 50 per cent in 2008 to 75,000 and also boost its exports to 46,000 units this year. Indonesia's automotive market is currently recovering from a slump in 2006 after the government lifted fuel prices.

Vios White & 2 more colour will be launch!

Ya! Toyota is going to launch 3 more new colour of the Vios! Lately, it had been spotted on advertisement shooting session. Which also mean that it is going to launch anytime!

This picture is shown in Toyota Malaysia website as advertisement! Did you see? It is a white colour Vios! I suspect this is the long waiting Pearl White variant!

Pearl white is found in the Toyota Camry and also our own local Myvi SE which is just facelifted last Friday.

Besides that, the new Toyota Vios will be also available in dark grey and dark gold! Personally, i like the pearl white. Too bad i already bought a Vios last July! T.T However black is cool to my eye too! So still no regrets! =P

Ok! Off topic abit. As we see in the advertisement showing the white Vios along with a Corolla Altis. Toyota is now offering 3 year free service voucher for purchase made between 1st to 31st October! I suspect the white Vios will be launch anytime from now.

Perhaps it will be launch next week? Anyone can clarify this? Since Toyota just facelifted 3 model last week which is Fortuner, Hilux and Innova.

My exploring trip. - Segamat edition

I believe everyone had noticed my blog lately do not update as much as before. I appologized for that as im busy with my holiday now. Past few day i also going on a driving trip around the Malaysia to discover nice scenery and food. =P

Well, here come my 1st part of my whole exploring trip which is a driving trip around Malaysia. Basically i do not have any information about all the location i am going to travel. I do not even know how to drive there. All i based on is the Nokia Maps application available in my phone.

My whole exploring trip starts from Segamat, Johor then proceed to Kuantan, Pahang and finally made a stop at Sungai Lembing near Kuantan.

Lets start my first part which is Segamat. Well, where is Segamat? It is a small town located in Johor which is about 215km from Kuala Lumpur. To go there, you need to drive on North South Expressway to the south side from KL and exit at Alor gajah Tol.

Winding through the federal road, follow the Tampin / Segamat direction shown on roadsign. Along the journey, you will past through some town which is Tampin, Gemencheh, Gemas, Buluh Kasap and finally you will reach Segamat. Segamat is the town of the king of fruit. At Buluh Kasap, you may find alot of durians and other local fruit along the road. Believe or not! 4KG of Dragon Fruit (RED) only sold at RM10!

For me, i departed from KL at 8am, and i reached Segamat at around 10.30am! It just takes 2 hour and 30 minutes to reach.

All the while i had been heard some of my friend mentioning about a very nice traditional Hailam kopitiam at Segamat which serve nice coffee and toast. So my first mission is to find the kopitiam!

And here i found it around 11am! Its located at Jalan Awang, Segamat. Let me introduce you...

Kedai Kopi Nan Yang, this old cafe existed for many years and serve great hailam style coffee and toast! Although the shop looks old and many of us did not heard of it before, it is favourite by alot taxi driver and bus driver to make their breakfast stop there.

Take note, this kopitiam only serve drinks and toast. They do not sell noodle there. Im unsure about their business hour but it seems will open until noon.

Hailam style ice coffee, this definitely taste better than all those instant coffee and some branded cafe yet it cost much more cheaper to enjoy! It just cost me RM1.40 for one big glass of ice coffee!

Hailam bread toast, A very aromatic charcoal toasted hailam bread with butter and home made kaya fill. One piece only cost you 70cent! With this price, what else you expect?

Ok. After enjoyed my morning tea time at Kedai Kopi Nan Yang, i proceed to check in to my stay. There are plenty of small hotel available at the town. If you prefer outside the town, there is only 1 hotel which is Hotel Sri Pelangi.

For me, i prefer to choose outside the town as i prefer a silent sleep. So, i choose Hotel Sri Pelangi as my stay. It cost RM90 per night for standard room. RM35 for additional bed. No breakfast will be provided. This hotel is kind of dissapointing with the facilities as it is not so properly kept.

Hotel Sri Pelangi. Priced reasonable. However, Facilities not so well kept.
-

Hotel Sri Pelangi at night. Nice landscape right?
-
Nearby Segamat there are alot point of attraction such as the Gunung Ledang and Hutan Lipur Sungai Bantang Bekok which is a great camping location. There are a large forest reserve for you to jungle trekking.
-
Besides that, you may also pay visit to the durian and fruit plantation farm. You may get variety of fruits at reasonable price there.
-
For the lunch, we settle ourself in a air-conditioned restaurant named Tong Hock Restaurant (同福冷气饭店) located beside the Segamat mainroad. During my visit, i ordered 黄酒鸡 (chicken cooked in chinese wine) and 芋头扣肉 (Pork stewed with yam) plus a vege. All that cost me RM44.60 for 3 person. Taste is just slightly above average.
-
At night, we went 阿福炒饭 stall to have our dinner. This restaurant served great curry fish (咖喱鱼),飘香佛钵,and nice steel plate to fu (铁板豆腐). During my visit, we ordered curry talapia fish, steel plate tofu and a vege soup. It cost me only RM32.50! With rice and chinese tea included! For me, i recommend this restaurant to you all! The food are damn nice! Remember visit earlier to avoid no more table available.
-
Sorry no photo for the eatery above because everyone is too busy eating that moment. ==
-
Other good place for food are such as 小羊肉骨茶 (Xiao Yang Bak Kut Teh) which only open until noon. It is located on the street beside Segamat street. If from KL direction, you need to turn left on Sg Segamat junction. I do not have detailed address. However, Segamat town is not so big. You may drive your car around to search for them.
-
During the day, i also pay my visit to a fruit farm which owned by my dad's friend. Enjoyed lots of local fruit there. Too bad now is not durian season.
-
Ok! My driving trip day 1 ends like that. The second day morning i will proceed my driving journey to Kuantan. Basically, Segamat is a nice place if you like to enjoy the nature as there is a lots of plantation farm and nature jungle for you.
-
Bye Bye Segamat.

Perodua MPV will look like this? Toyota/Daihatsu new joint design MPV!

Yeah! It had been a long time after we heard rumour that the new Perodua MPV will based on Viva or Myvi which i also not sure.
-

However, thanks to my reader anonymous which provide some useful information for us. Recently, Toyota had launched a new mpv which is a global model together with Daihatsu. It is a 7 seater MPV with lengh of 4180mm - 4190mm depends on spec. This new MPV will set to debut in Japan market in this December!
-

For your information, this new MPV model are based on our Perodua Myvi / Daihatsu Boon / Toyota Passo platform. I think everyone should know that actually this 3 model is the same car.
-

According to the Perodua tradition, this model might be bring in to our market just like the Myvi which is also Daihatsu Boon and Toyota Passo.
-

-

From that picture, did you sense some Myvi DNA? The headlight have similiarity with Daihatsu Move and Toyota Ractis which basically is the same car. While the front mask are similiar with Toyota Wish! Baby wish in the making?
-

For the height, this new mpv built by Toyota and Daihatsu is 1620mm and have similiar side profile with the Nissan Note.
-

-

The rear light of the new MPV will be mounted on C-pillar which is similiar with the current Perodua Kenari, Viva, Myvi and also the coming Proton MPV.
-

Besides that, from the picture shown above, we can sure that there will be no sliding door features on the new MPV. Maybe this will dissapoint some MPV fans as current Toyota Sienta had it.
-

Apart from that, reader anonymous also told me that the meter panel will be mounted on centre position same as the Toyota Vios. This feature are said to provide us better road visibility which i think it only help a little bit as i drive a Vios.
-

-
The performance wise, the new MPV will be using the 1.5 litre DOHC engine which will produce 109ps! Perhaps it is the same engine used in our Vios as it give same output level.
-
While for the transmission, it is powered by either a manual transmission or a 4 speed auto transmission which do not give any surprise to us! However, some variant of this new MPV will be powered by 4WD! Lets hope this will come in to Malaysia too! It sure will be a fun car to drive!

So now if the Perodua MPV will based on this model, lets see how Perodua will localised it. From what reader anonymous told and my observation with Myvi, mostly the Perodua will do some cosmetic changes on the front grille, headlight, rearlight, and also the position of the rear number plate.
-
The brand new Perodua MPV will set to debut somewhere in September 2009 which is less than 1 year from now! So lets open our eye to wait more spy shot coming in!
